Organise and Declutter

Organising & Decluttering:

SORTED, an organising and decluttering company, based in Cape Town

SORTED, an organising and decluttering company, based in Cape Town

The essential part of a simply-organised life is that your surroundings are in order. This means that you can move with
efficiency without feeling overwhelmed by your environment while going about your daily routine or tasks. Being organised is a valuable asset that saves time and money, and improves productivity and relationships at home and at work.

We specialise in simple re-organising, helping to create a neat, efficient space.
Your external environment reflects and affects your inner self. When your workspace or home become cluttered it becomes impossible to function at your best. Let us help you achieve your optimal YOU.

We really only need the items that we TOUCH, USE and LOVE and SPARK JOY!

Moving Home:

One of the most stressful and trying times in your life is moving house or office space. There is always so much to do that you often don’t know where to start. We have the experience, efficiency and expertise to help you to pack your belongings, sort out your old space and then unpack and settle you in your new home.  We will sell or donate any unwanted items for you, or simply organise them into a more manageable and aesthetically pleasing way. We will even organise a home-cooked meal before your crockery and cutlery is unpacked.

Decluttering to move, you are downsizing so that you can just lock up and go. How exciting! But first things to do, actually a LOT to do. Years and years of stuff to sort through and don’t know where to start? This is where SORTED can help you.

Things Schools Didn’t Teach Us Events

Almost all of the important history we’ve learned between grades 5 and 12we could probably find on Wikipedia. And pretty much any basic scientific knowledge you could ever want to learn is explained with pretty videos on YouTube. Technology developing so rapidly that robots will be doing half the work in another decade

It’s cliche at this point to say that the most important things we’ve learn in life we don’t learn in school. I know in my life, the most important things I’ve learned I had to figure out on my own as an adult.

But why couldn’t these things be taught in school? I mean, if I had to spend six months learning about Bartolomeu Dias and The apartheid era, why couldn’t I spend six months learning about how to save for retirement and what sexual consent was?

If you can associate with the above then this is the group for you:  THINGS SCHOOLS DIDN’T TEACH US.

We cover topics to improve our lifestyle and get experts in to do workshops / talks.

James is an angel who helped us get our office moved and organized, all with a smile on his face.
Dear James, Thank you so so much for the wonderful work you did in my home.  I am thrilled with my ‘new look’ bedroom.  You really did a great job. Much love, Shirley
Thank you so much for dealing with the overall process of our move, in such a short time and notice in a very professional way. It really gave us peace of mind to know that you were in charge of the whole coordination of moving our Cape Town house while we are living overseas. This experience has been an eye opener to what your company can provide to customers and we will definitely recommend you to others as well as contact you again for future projects.
BEST SERVICE EVER!! James & Carmen changed my life. I’m so grateful for the positive effect they have had on my home and my life. My home is so orderly and beautiful thanks to their incredible organizational skills! Would highly recommend them for any project big or small.
Thanks James and Carmen – you certainly made the impossible, possible today – and with such care and efficiency. Much appreciated! Rest well now.
SORTED takes care of my freelance admin so I can work.
James from SORTED has proved himself 100% efficient and reliable in the task of the organisation of workshops for teachers. He considers every detail and is there to assist in person. No task is too big for him. Added to this competency is his humanity and sincere interest in the activity.
What a pleasure it was when SORTED took care of the last, difficult aspects of my move abroad. This really gave me peace of mind during such a trying time. It was also good to know that SORTED was dealing with the bits and pieces I left behind when I finally left the country. I would really recommend SORTED to manage and reorganise the tasks at hand when you have to deal with one of the most stressful periods of your life – to move!
SORTED was the best thing that happened to me last year! I had been dreading making a start on de-cluttering out a whole garage full of stuff, but they came in and did it all for me. What a weight off my mind. And what wonderful people to deal with. I have already recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.
I found “Sorted” to be extremely helpful during a stressful time of our lives, moving from a double storey to an apartment, having to get rid of more stuff than we realised.
James, Maggie and Company were there , dealing with all the stuff that we had no time( for me, no patience either) to cope with, calm and dependable, realistic and so helpful. Thank you for making our move that much easier.
Stunning service. Nothing too much trouble. I feel my space has been facelifted – and this after a light de-clutter! I felt free-er… 5 stars.
James is very professional and makes things that were impossible for months before seamlessly vanish in hours, making the world sunny, bright and clear again.
The meet up’s are a great way to unite entrepreneurs and budding entrepreneurs/ small business owners  in a relaxed environment to network, exchange thoughts and ideas, and offer advice and support to their fellow group members. The networking and support is truly inspiring and I would highly recommend this group to anyone either in business for themselves or thinking of starting one.
There is something magical that happens when you put passionate educators in a room with a hot topic! It’s as if they gather on the precipice of a cliff like eagles and all jump and soar, together exploring the wonders of life in education! Teacher Talk takes you on a journey from heart to mind to see the educational frontier and to push our peers to be more! It is all this, and sometimes just a bunch of looneys sipping wine and sympathising about the pains of our growing age gap and technological understanding between our learners and ourselves. Teacher talk is a very crucial platform to be informed and to be heard. Thank you Dr Sandra Johnson of CPUT and Mr James Smal of SORTED for creating and growing this rare opportunity for teachers to expand and explore our own identities as professionals.
Thank you so much for your prompt and efficient service. My son and I are so happy at my new place and the landlords are amazingly great. Keep up the excellent work!
You introduced me to that wonderful accountant.. Michael, and since then I have again introduced many to him.  A very professional business, mails up-dates on tax laws and reminders for submissions. Thanks to you for SORTING me!

There I was stuck in a job in Durban, unable to get back to CT to sort through my store room and pack for the removal company. SORTED organised everything for me.  They bough boxes, tape etc and packaged everything which was labelled and itemized for me. I had peace of mind knowing what was on its way to me and what to expect. Without SORTED this whole affair would have cost me a fortune. The price I paid SORTED was a fraction of what it would have cost me, and I saved myself a lot of time and stress as well.  Thank you SORTED, I will definitely use you again in the future!

Our Work

There is a Place for Everything

There is a Place for Everything

See EARTH, then YOU, then YOUR SPACE

THERE IS A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING – and everything has a place.

Have you ever looked at a documentary of earth? If so then you realise how big the world is and how tiny you are.

(I found this 2,5 minute comparison on YouTube – there are lots more:

Now take it further and think of all the ‘things’ that surround us, the emotions they spark in our thoughts. We realise that the smallest item can play a large part in our own little world.

We live in a very big world where every single thing, believe it or not, has its place.  If you have something that is not serving a purpose, not being utilized in any way, but is simply taking up earth space then it is in the way and needs to be somewhere else.  You may have paid a fortune, or nothing, for it. It may be a rare antique with a history to tell, or maybe it has travelled far.  You may have inherited it, or it’s a loved and cherished possession – but if all it does is take up space and gather dust, then this ‘thing’ is in the wrong place.

Look carefully at each item in your space. When last did you open that cupboard/drawer, use or even SEE that item.

You may agree that every item may have a home somewhere else. Up the road, around the block, the homeless shelter, a charity, a pawn shop or flea market, for recycling, or someone else in need.

The same philosophy applies to your brain. Are you ‘storing’ a past hurt or grief, or a moment that can never be taken back?

If this is causing you harm then ‘store’ it somewhere else.  Some thoughts need to be left with a specialist, or thrown away to gale force winds, or to the universe. Negative emotions need to be left on the punching bag, or tamed into our strengths.

Ideas and plans need to be revisited and turned into action; to be replaced by something even bigger.

TIP OF THE DAYEvery item that we have has a place where it will fit perfectly.

Get your life SORTED – your space is an extension of yourself

Get your life SORTED

S   is for sorting. Item by item, design by design, colour by colour, and room by room. What would you like to send for donation, toss in the dump, or make a buck by re-selling? Are all your items in their proper place?  Sorting is defined as any process of arranging systematically, in this case, your space defines YOU and how you live your life.

O   is for order. To arrange everything in a way that is understandable and logical in relation to each other and you. It’s when you know where everything is and have access to it, not wasting effort or time.

R   is for re-purposing / recycling. Not everything has to go to the dump.  It’s amazing how a paintbrush, artistic mind and steady hand can transform an item to the most impressive piece. Be creative with the items in your space and have fun. You can also satisfy or enrich yourself by donating to others who will get more use and value out of the item. By recycling, an old scatter cushion can gain new life and become a soft pillow for someone in need.

T   is for tidiness. It’s about being able to maintain your space in a visual and accessible level. With tidiness comes accessibility. You have a clear view of all your stuff and you can retrieve any item without causing a tornado by having to scratch through or move other items out of the way.

E   is for efficiency.  Having an organised space improves efficiency. You know exactly where everything is and how you make use of it, saving you time and energy.

D   is for decluttering. By removing clutter or mess you make space for new opportunities and new energies in your life. By doing this, you will make your living experience more pleasant and useful. No matter how deep the memories attached to old unused items, the expense or the origin, if it’s not pleasant or useful to anybody, it is clutter. It needs to go.

Tip of the Day: Get your life SORTED – your space is an extension of yourself – an uncluttered space is an uncluttered heart and mind.
